There is something raw and powerful about the latest outdoor lights from Hinkley Lighting. Sierra, a lighting family of pendants and wall sconces, has a decidedly natural vibe, even while showcasing geometric craftsman style frames. The finish options are the most interesting aspect to me; the aluminum frame comes in a Spanish Bronze finish and the glass is available in a clear seedy and stone finish.

While these craftsman lights definitely have a cosmopolitan feel, there is also a soft, almost windblown, chaotic element to them. Something undefined, something unique. The variations in Sierra’s glass gives these outdoor fixtures their own character.

When somebody is told to do something, their natural response constitutes a “why should I bother?” or “what’s in it for me?”  - That is why I do not expect you to jump around in barely controllable excitement and enquire as to exactly how can you “Go Ancient” – And why would one want to do so anyway? Well, one good reason is a little fun and revisit the past. The great news is that you don’t actually have to go to the past, you can take it in today, and in a modern way, by appreciating the North Creek Outdoor Hanging Lantern (found here, http://www.brilliantoutdoors.com/kic-49180.html). Recognizing the value and significance of historical objects and events helps us understand our present. I’ll tell you what, this light fixture (which is made in the image of the more traditional lanterns) is quite breathtaking with its craftsman like qualities. With the olde bronze frame supporting a seedy glass it does sound like a piece of ancient glory. It also has something that reminds me of China, but that is a story for another time.
