Berkeley Outdoor Lighting from Arroyo Craftsman

Arroyo Craftsman has done it again, releasing a lovely new collection of outdoor lights called Berkeley. These lights are as smart and charming as they sound and are extremely versatile. Finish options include Verdigris Patina, Raw Copper, Mission Brown, Bronze, Rustic Brown, Antique Brass, Antique Copper, Pewter, Slate, Satin Black, and Polished Nickel. (Please note: Antique Brass, Antique Copper, and Polished Nickel finishes recommended for indoor use only.)

The glass options are equally diverse. Choose from Gold White Iridescent, White Opalescent, Frosted, Clear Seedy, Rain Mist, Off White, Cream, Tan, Almond Mica, and Amber Mica. (Though Mica options are not recommended for outdoor use and should only be used with 60 watt maximum bulbs to prevent warping.)

Clearly my favorite finish combination is the Verdigris Patina finish paired with the Gold White Iridescent glass. This pairing really highlights the rustic style and craftsman lighting design that Arroyo Craftsman is known for. These outdoor light fixtures have an incredibly solid and sturdy presence, as though they could weather any storm and have been around for time untold. There’s an almost Tin Man-esque feel to them, evoking memories of fairy tales from childhood.

But the Berkeley outdoor lighting family is no myth. These light fixtures range from outdoor hanging lights to post lights to outdoor wall lights. I’m immediately drawn to the outdoor post light from Berkeley. I can easily picture this lamp post proudly weathering the elements in both the most rural farmland or the most cosmopolitan metropolis. These lights really capture the crisp freshness of the fall outdoor colors as the Tiffany glass plates are stunning and rich. For example, the Autumn Ridge pendant light alone contains 144 individual pieces of unique Tiffany glass–now that’s luxury!

Showcasing a sensational Bergamo finish and an intricate geometric design, the Autumn Ridge outdoor post light is my favorite fixture of this new lighting family. But one of my favorite aspects of this craftsman and transitional style outdoor lighting family is its energy efficiency. Hinkley Lighting Sierra Outdoor Lights

There is something raw and powerful about the latest outdoor lights from Hinkley Lighting. Sierra, a lighting family of pendants and wall sconces, has a decidedly natural vibe, even while showcasing geometric craftsman style frames. The finish options are the most interesting aspect to me; the aluminum frame comes in a Spanish Bronze finish and the glass is available in a clear seedy and stone finish.

While these craftsman lights definitely have a cosmopolitan feel, there is also a soft, almost windblown, chaotic element to them. Something undefined, something unique. The variations in Sierra’s glass gives these outdoor fixtures their own character.

The vertical outdoor wall light that complements Sierra’s matching hanging pendant light and square wall sconce is by far one of my favorites of Hinkley Lighting’s newest fixtures. When somebody is told to do something, their natural response constitutes a “why should I bother?” or “what’s in it for me?”  - That is why I do not expect you to jump around in barely controllable excitement and enquire as to exactly how can you “Go Ancient” – And why would one want to do so anyway? Well, one good reason is a little fun and revisit the past. The great news is that you don’t actually have to go to the past, you can take it in today, and in a modern way, by appreciating the North Creek Outdoor Hanging Lantern (found here, http://www.brilliantoutdoors.com/kic-49180.html). Recognizing the value and significance of historical objects and events helps us understand our present. I’ll tell you what, this light fixture (which is made in the image of the more traditional lanterns) is quite breathtaking with its craftsman like qualities. With the olde bronze frame supporting a seedy glass it does sound like a piece of ancient glory. It also has something that reminds me of China, but that is a story for another time.
