Nautical themes are prevalent this summer and Maxim Lighting sure has their finger on the pulse of design trends. The Wharf lights are new, funky, and yet refined, and a breath of fresh air for the outdoor contemporary lighting community. Featuring two rich finish options, Empire Bronze and Oriental Bronze, the aluminum Wharf lights will brighten up your outdoors with the gentle glow of their 100 watt medium based bulb.
While the Wharf lights certainly feature contemporary elements like a sleek finish and simple, geometric forms, these gorgeous outdoor lights definitely fall into the nautical outdoor lighting category. Evoking memories of the lights on wharfs, twinkling late at night, these fixtures have a romantic appeal in addition to their purely functional presence. I can easily picture the Wharf lights adorning a modern seaside villa or local business.
The Wharf nautical fixtures feature three sizes of outdoor wall lights. They are available in 9.5″ high, 10″ high, and 10.5″ high models and would also create a great balance mixed and matched and spread around your home. Place Wharf lights by front doors, porches, garages, or in gazebos for the that truly authentic maritime look.

The Taliesin outdoor lights from Maxim Lighting are an incredible blending of traditional, oriental, transitional, and contemporary style elements. Featuring a rich Burnished finish and lush iridescent glass panels, the Taliesin lights really have an unusual glow and presence. Constructed of stainless steel, these hardy lights can withstand any weather, from the dry slopes of the Grand Canyon to the verdant landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. I can even picture them brightening up a front door or driveway in the cold Midwest on a winter’s night.
As far as contemporary outdoor lighting goes, Taliesin features uniquely modern accents like boxy, geometric shapes and simplified lines. The crossed lines and slanted “rooftops” of the frames also represent a sort of oriental style and the ornate details and subtle ornamentation of the Taliesin glass panes also allow these fixtures to fit nicely into the traditional outdoor lighting category. I can even see Craftsman lighting elements too, in the basic but high quality construction of these lights. Because of all these aspects, Taliesin can be categorized as transitional outdoor lighting as well. Taliesin wears many hats in the outdoor lighting arena and is versatile form for any outdoor decor.
The Taliesin family includes an outdoor hanging light, a post light, and four lovely varieties of outdoor wall lights. My personal favorite of these is the wall light which is enhanced by a back plate, anchoring it authoritatively to an outside wall, perhaps by your garage or in your gazebo. This Taliesin wall light measures an impressive 16.5″ high and 11″ wide and extends from the wall by 12″. Reminiscent of the unusual, natural architecture of the Grand Canyon, these outdoor lights have their own sense of style and character. Consider decorating your outdoors with Taliesin lights today and bring a little pizazz to your lawn or front porch.

Maxim Lighting really has some stunning outdoor lights this season and the Crown Hill fixtures are certainly turning heads in the design world. Featuring several finish options (some are limited according to the individual fixtures), Crown Hill lights are available in Black, White, Rust Patina, and Pewter. The glass options for Crown Hill are equally lovely and include clear beveled glass panes or frosted glass panels. The combination of these features creates a beautiful fixture that evokes images of ancient mariners and traditional, opulent castles.
These lights really are blending styles but the predominant accents to Crown Hill fall in the traditional outdoor lighting category. Delicate scroll work and detailed top and bottom accents to these fixtures remind me of the intricate designs of cathedrals and Old World, European homes. There are also nautical outdoor lighting elements, like rounded, bulbous frames and dark, weathered finishes, which make the Crown Hill outdoor lights uniquely transitional in design and form.
The Crown Hill lighting family is a large one and features multiple outdoor ceiling and hanging lights, as well as post lighting and outdoor wall lights. My personal favorite of these sturdy die cast aluminum fixtures is the outdoor hanging lantern which measures an impressive 26″ high, 11″ wide, and has an adjustable chain length of 72″. Many of these fixtures are also available with a dimming option so you can even control the gentle illumination gracing your front door and outdoor walkways. Crown Hill outdoor lights are so new we’re still uploading them to the BrilliantOutdoors.com website, but keep a lookout for these suave beauties and other fixtures like Crown Hill in the Maxim Lighting section.

Sometimes outdoor lights just strike your fancy because of their uniqueness and the Builder fixtures by Maxim Lighting definitely fit that category. Featuring a lush Black finish on its sturdy aluminum frame, Builder utilizes geometry and lines to delineate space, much like modern architecture. And the panels of clear glass lining the Builder outdoor lights are delicate and delightful, creating a nice complement to the more powerful design aspects of the Builder fixture.
The Builder outdoor lights fall into both contemporary lighting and nautical lighting styles, so I would consider them to be of the transitional outdoor lighting variety as well. The straight, modernist lines of Builder’s frame pairs nicely with the round, somewhat nautical adornments surrounding them. And adding a contemporary touch to the fixture as a whole, Builder also features a dimmer so you can control the amount of illumination on your front porch or garage.
The Builder family of outdoor lights is small but mighty and features an outdoor post light and two varieties of outdoor wall lights. Of these three, my personal favorite is the outdoor post light. The main head of the post light measures an impressive 25″ high and 9.5″ in diameter and would look commanding and professional lining your driveway or front walk. (Product Number: 1023BK)
The Builder lights are so new they have yet to be uploaded to our BrilliantOutdoors.com website, but keep checking the transitional outdoor lighting section to see them appear and scope out other unusual, style-merging outdoor lights like Builder.

For timeless Craftsman and traditional outdoor lighting quality, look no further than the new North Church outdoor lights by Maxim Lighting. These marvelous outdoor fixtures are available in lush, classic finishes like Black, Pewter, and Rust Patina. And North Church’s frosted glass panes evoke memories of ornate old churches from times gone by, creating that enduring beauty of timeless architecture right on your front porch or in your home’s yard or garden.
Craftsman outdoor lighting takes many forms and North Church encapsulates the pure quality and geometry of such fixtures. The sharp angles of the North Church frame are nicely complemented by the curves of the ornamental rods adorning the outdoor wall lights. Combining Victorian and Craftsman elements, Maxim Lighting has created a astonishing example of traditional outdoor lighting sophistication, complete with a “steeple” decorating the top of each fixture.
The North Church outdoor lighting family features elegant post lights and two varieties of outdoor wall lights. My personal favorite of these choices is easily the North Church Craftsman outdoor wall up-light, which measures an impressive 19″ high and 6″ wide and extends from the wall by 7″. Mimicking the glory and balance of classic church architecture, these North Church outdoor lights will really put you in a devoutly fashionable mood.

Nautical outdoor lighting is definitely all the rage this summer and Maxim Lighting is certainly on top of transitional lighting trends with this new outdoor family, Westport. Featuring a rugged and dashing Artesian Bronze finish and lush Mocha cloud glass, Westport is the perfect marriage of modern design and functional sea-worthiness. Constructed of Vivex, a material capable of withstanding practically any weather condition (except for maybe the explosion of the sun), these outdoor lights will last you a lifetime and bring glorious illumination to your walkways and front door for the end of your days.
The Westport family consists of an outdoor ceiling light, a hanging light, a post light, and three sizes of outdoor wall lights. My favorite of these is the nautical outdoor wall sconce which measures an impressive 25″ high and 13″ wide and extends from the wall by 16″. This sea captain in lighting form is certain not to be overlooked by even the most shipwrecked guest, so liven up your home with Westport outdoor lights today and keep away the Kraken and Davy Jones with your beautiful and enduring transitional outdoor lighting.
