Lancaster Gardens is a special place where love, virtue and magic grows. The garden’s loveliness radiates when the switch to the outdoor wall lighting fixture is flipped on. I was sure I had heard the name when I first read about the Kichler Pasadena outdoor post light. I agonized myself over it for quite some time before finally concluding that this post lamp had a ‘suburban name’. Those of you who have grown in peaceful neighborhoods in the suburbs must be well aware of what a beautiful suburban neighborhood is supposed to look like and how much warner it looks with exterior post lighting. There is a certain similarity and harmony among suburbs the world over. Their names, appearance of the houses, roads, roadside lamps, shopping malls and even families bear an unmistakable suburban identity. Being raised as a part of one such family, I grew up loving my calm and hassle-free life. Someone once told me she thought the sight of the sun setting in an endless expanse of calm sea waters was the most surreal and beautiful thing she had ever seen. I asked her to marry me the very next week by that very sea, at the very hour of an extremely memorable sunset. No wonder why sunsets have a special place in my heart. When somebody is told to do something, their natural response constitutes a “why should I bother?” or “what’s in it for me?” - That is why I do not expect you to jump around in barely controllable excitement and enquire as to exactly how can you “Go Ancient” – And why would one want to do so anyway? Well, one good reason is a little fun and revisit the past. The great news is that you don’t actually have to go to the past, you can take it in today, and in a modern way, by appreciating the North Creek Outdoor Hanging Lantern (found here, http://www.brilliantoutdoors.com/kic-49180.html). Recognizing the value and significance of historical objects and events helps us understand our present. I’ll tell you what, this light fixture (which is made in the image of the more traditional lanterns) is quite breathtaking with its craftsman like qualities. With the olde bronze frame supporting a seedy glass it does sound like a piece of ancient glory. It also has something that reminds me of China, but that is a story for another time. I remember the time when I was young and full of fancies. When I used to fancy the rain, the wind and the snow. When in fall, the sight of rusty old leaves in the dimly lit backyard of my house would take me to another world. The ‘Kichler Warner Park Light’ is quite similar to the hauntingly beautiful lamp that features in my memories. I am delighted to install the Kichler Light in my new backyard, I am pretty convinced that once I do so, it will produce that same out-of-the-world effect that made me spend countless nights in my backyard as a child. I do not know about you, but I am quite confident that I would drop dead (in a good way) at the sight of something truly beautiful. And in case of these outdoor lamps, even the name has enough power to disarm me of my wits and light a new path. This lamp fixture is an exquisitely well crafted piece of art (how else would you compliment its elegant black frame lined with golden strips) and I wish they had lamp galleries somewhere to showcase this beauty. While the constructional technicalities add up to the proportionate structure (Width: 11.5″ – Height: 37″ – Extension: 16″), it is the overall aura of this outdoor lamp that eventually does the trick. Remaining true to its name, the ‘Venetian Rain’ reminds you of the streets of Venice (even if you have never been there) and for this reason alone, this lighting fixture is a must-have for any household. With a name like Franceasi, you can’t go wrong with this outdoor lighting fixture! It’s versatile styling is so retro but at the same time very new and unique. It’s so unique it’s hard to place it in any category, it can be matched with art deco, transitional, traditional, and victorian architecture. Cloud 9 is where the light’s designer, Francois must have been, or maybe he just climbed his way up the Eiffel Tower for inspiration.
